Franklin Institute – Professional Development Educator position available
DEPARTMENT: Gender, Adult Learning & Community Engagement
POSITION REPORTS TO: Manager & Curriculum Specialist
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Unscheduled Part-time. Hours are scheduled based on planned workshops, requiring anywhere between 5-25 hours per month.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Education is required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Master’s strongly preferred. Background in cognitive science, neuroscience, biology, or psychology is preferred. Experience and skills in presenting dynamic professional development or training sessions for adult learners is essential. Classroom teaching experience and/or working with K-12 teachers is strongly preferred. Must have a car and availability during weekdays to deliver 3-6 hour professional development workshops for teachers at The Franklin Institute or in the tri-state area. This person will deliver dynamic professional development workshops about the brain, learning, memory, and its application to educational practice for K-12 teachers and out-of-school time educators in regional school districts and other educational institutions. The will communicate with school districts and Franklin Institute staff accordingly to adapt and coordinate workshops.
